Fable Jar was created from a very personal moment.
Sandeep & Samaira — the moment that started it all
I'm Sandeep Kaistha, and along with my business partner and childhood friend Dhiraj Khanna, we built Fable Jar with one simple belief — stories can shape how a child sees the world.
A few months ago, we moved from Singapore to Sydney. It was a big change for our family, and especially for my daughter, Samaira. She was in a completely new environment and was struggling to make friends.
Like any parent, I tried talking to her, guiding her, and reassuring her. But I realized something important — words alone don't always reach children the way we hope they will.
Every night, I would read her a story. And that's when I noticed something different.
Stories stayed with her. Stories made things click.
That's when the idea for Fable Jar was born.
What if I could create stories that reflected her real life? What if she could see herself inside the story — facing the same challenges, making decisions, and coming out stronger?
When a child hears their own name in a story, something changes. They don't just listen — they experience it.
In those stories, my daughter wasn't just a listener. She was the hero.
And as the story unfolded, she saw herself overcoming the very challenges she was facing in real life — making friends, building confidence, and taking small, brave steps.
That's the power of storytelling.
When children experience something through a story, it stays with them. And when they later face that situation in real life, it feels familiar — like something they've already done before.
